So what is the
Vaudeville Rave?
A little bit Vaudeville and a little bit Rave...Can't quite visualise the concept? Use some imagination and it all becomes clear...
21st century technological magic electrifies antique decadence. Vaudeville Rave takes the foot-stomping sumptuous sounds of the early 1900s dance halls and dens with its swing, jive and unadulterated infectiousness, throws in the bizarrely fetishistic and obscure acts of the Edwardian underground music hall and smashes them into NOW!
Revamped modern manifestations of the arts of cabaret and burlesque entwine with the remixed, twisted and tortured sounds of your ancestors...all this in an atmosphere that you can taste.
Class clashes with depravation, champagne moderates the masochism, whilst swing and bass, steam punk and clowncore roll out indulgent mayhem. If you please.
Those lucky enough to join in include The Correspondents, whose irascible scatting contemporises '20s and '30s Big Band swing, and is laid on top of the pulse of modern dance beats. Also on the list, Ed Cox's clowncore, where accordion meets heavy dance not out of place in a Romanian Free Party, and Mr B the gentleman rhymer with his own unique 'chap-hop' tells of his general distain in a distinctly accented rap.
